PROFFESSIONAL SUMMARY:


School Leader 

  • Led and managed staff as they partnered with Learning Coaches and students, ensuring that each child completed his/her instructional program;
  • Creates and sustains culturally responsive effective systems designed to support parents, students, support staff, and certified teachers who “virtually” facilitate a home-based student instructional program with efficacy;

Principal II

  • Ensured staff exhibited and maintained a high level of professionalism, instructional support, and customer service by implementing a mission for the division;
  • Delivered the academic success and outcomes of the high school based on a list of annual school goals, which included the School’s goals to improve student academic achievement, Connection Academy school focus goals, and the Accountability score on the State Report Card;
  • Worked with school staff and POBL to create, implement, manage, and monitor the School Improvement Plan;
  • Ensured grading and leaver state reporting was completed correctly and on time;
  • Attended all principal meetings;
  • Exhibited high-quality, timely communication with all school staff, students, and families;
  • Worked closely with appropriate Legal Counsel as needed;
  • Worked closely with Pearson Online and Blended Learning staff to implement the core operational model;

Student Records Manager

  • Developed and implemented district policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) and State Board of Education (SBOE) rules regarding student record keeping.  
  • Managed the activities of all high school registrars and middle and elementary school records clerks. 
  • Monitored procedures throughout the year to ensure proper implementation of and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Managed the Student Records Office.  Ensured that patrons of HISD were provided with confidential records expediently and adequately.  This included personal contact with former students, colleges/universities, businesses, armed service recruiting offices, courts serving the district with subpoenas, etc.  Evaluated transcripts and provided counseling.
  • Collaborated with district personnel to ensure compliance with local policies and procedures.  Provided information to and served as a resource for staff in the Curriculum, Research, Advanced Academics, and Technology departments.
  • Ruled on all disputes or discrepancies regarding course credit and student records (transcripts) to determine graduation requirements, ranking of graduates, and grade level classification.
  • Developed and revised significant chapters in the School Guidelines, including district graduation plans and curriculum requirements.
  • Provided information regarding district policy to the district office and school personnel (principals, counselors, assistant principals, deans, etc.).
  • Maintained the HISD Master Catalog of courses for student scheduling and grade reporting.


Magnet Specialist

  • Provided individual assistance needed to improve identified Magnet programs.
  • Coordinated the operations of two Outdoor Education Programs (staff training, curriculum development, budgeting/purchasing, scheduling, student/staff safety).
  • Scheduled and coordinated the annual participation of 13,000 elementary students in the district’s Outdoor Education Programs.
  • Assisted in developing and implementing in-services for Magnet principals, coordinators, and teachers.
  • Assisted in the development of curriculum as needed in Magnet programs.
  • Coordinated recruitment activities.
  • Conferred with parents and community members and provided up-to-date information on Magnet school and Outdoor Education.
  • Established and maintained open communication with the community regarding Magnet and Outdoor Education programs and district-wide activities.
